Mike Salonen

Mike was born and raised on a farm in northeast South Dakota and has been involved in agriculture his whole life. While going to college and teaching school for six years following graduation, Mike worked on a farm during the summer months to earn that extra income during a time where farming practices were much different from what they are today. From there Mike went to work in the agriculture sector on a full time basis spending 6 years as a Feed Consultant, 14 years in the Grain Industry, merchandising and managing, and most recently the last seven years in the rapidly expanding Ethanol Industry.
Commodity Futures Markets have been a part of Mike’s everyday Risk Management discussions during his 27 years in the Grain and Feed Industry. “Having the opportunity to work for a commodity futures brokerage firm with a history and a reputation like Midwest Futures is something that I have always wanted to do. My goal is to use my past experiences and mesh that with the services Midwest Futures has to offer for current and future customers. I really enjoy visiting and working with people and look forward to that opportunity.”
